We will be following the syllabus of the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) of which our Artistic Director – Steven Houghton has been made an honorary member for his services to dance and frequently lectures for. This doesn’t mean we will rigidly stick to the syllabus as we will allow the children to develop as dancers through free expressive movement, mime and using their imagination. Dance helps your child to listen & carry out instructions and also helps with their counting and musical skills. All of this helps build their confidence in life.
We will be offering optional exams with the IDTA when we feel your child is ready and would give you further information regarding this nearer the time. Normally it takes a good year or longer before children are ready. Exams are not for everyone and your child will still move up into the next grade whether they take an exam or not.
