We are full members of the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and offer optional exams which usually take place in the autumn term before Christmas. We currently do grade exams in Ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre and will be extending this to the Street/Jazz students in 2012. Our exam results are always exceptional which is a reflection of the commitment, dedication and hard work of our students.

The students can also work towards the Excel medals in Bronze, Silver and Gold.

We feel it is extremely important to offer performing opportunities to the students as this is what performing arts are all about.

The Performance class students perform throughout the year at various events which include 'Larks in the Park', Willows Farm Christmas Fair and several school's summer and Christmas Fairs. We were also very honoured for our students to be asked to be the opening act for the St. Albans Christmas Lights turn on show in 2011. The students wowed the crowds and organisers so much that they have been asked to return again this year (2012).

We also produce an annual show that takes place at The Sandpit Theatre in the summer term. All students have the opportunity to be involved and photos from the last amazing show - ‘Showtime’ can be seen in the gallery. Along with the amazing performances from the students, West End performer – Nadine Cox sang a duet from ‘Wicked’ with Excel's Artistic Director - Steven. The show was a huge success and completely sold out!!

This short film captures the excitement from 'Showtime' with various clips from the show as well as backstage footage.

The 2012 show will take place on Friday 8th June, Saturday 9th June and Sunday 10th June and is called 'The Excel Factor'. It will be an exciting show that will incorporate all aspects of the performing arts from singing and drama to ballet, tap, street, jazz and musical theatre. It will once again be a wonderful and exciting experience for the students and we can't wait!!!!
